Twister - Powered by Fans!

The reigning ACU Academy Cup holder, Tim Hastings, is looking to race fans to get behind his bid to win the overall British 125GP Championship in 2009 - and is offering friends and supporters the chance to get their names on his KRP race bike.

Falkirk-based Team Twister is hoping that 16-year old Tim's many fans will put their hands in their pockets to help in funding this year's campaign - and he will carry those supporters with him for all 12 rounds of this year's Championship.

As Tim's father Tony explained: " It's not a totally new idea, but a lot of people picked up on Tim's great success last season and have wanted to become more involved as he bids for the 2009 title. In the current economic climate it has become increasingly difficult to attract larger corporate sponsors, but the enthusiasm of individual race fans is as strong as ever, and we know from talking to Tim's supporters that many would like to become a part of such a successful team."

The team is offering three sponsor packages aimed at individuals and clubs. A minimum £25 donation will receive a Team Twister T-shirt and a sponsor listing on Tim's website. In addition, those giving £50 will also get a signed A3 size poster and a direct e-mailing of Tim's race report after every round - while anyone making a minimum £100 donation will receive all the above and get their name on the side of Tim's KRP Honda for the entire season.

Additionally, throughout the season all contributors will go into a series of 12 prize draws to win a pair of tickets to each BSB round, where they will be the special guests of Team Twister.

Tony added: "Tim had an amazing season last year and we hope to go one step better in 2009, so we're confident that anyone contributing to Tim's challenge will be supporting a genuine front runner who is sure to get plenty of TV coverage. We hope that this opportunity will appeal to both individuals and bike clubs who want to be actively involved with racing and are keen to do a little bit more than just watch from the sidelines. We've already had a great response and I'm sure many more names will appear on Tim's website - and his bike - over the next few weeks."

15 January 2009

Team Twister is delighted to announce that 16 year old Falkirk rider Tim Hastings will once again be riding a Honda for the Keen Race Preparation (KRP) 125GP race team in the 2009 British 125GP Championship.

After a successful debut in 2007, a superbly consistent 2008 season saw Tim take the ACU Academy Cup with ten podiums from the twelve races, while his runner up position in the overall Championship included five podiums and a dominant first race win at Croft.

Having now accumulated significant race experience (and with only two DNFs in two entire race seasons), Tim will once again be challenging for top honours in both the Cup and the Championship series this season.

Tim's first opportunity to take to the track on the KRP bike this year will be a week of testing in Spain in mid-March which will include the first round of the Catalan Championship at Barcelona.

Tim will then be back in action in the UK at the first round of the 2009 British 125GP series at Brands Hatch on the 10th-13th of April.

Tim says of season 2009 "I'm really pleased to be staying with KRP for 2009, they are a top team with top bikes and I now have a year's worth of data to work from. Mark, (Keen), has been working hard on the KRP bikes over the winter, so I am confident my bike will be even better than it was last year.

All my team mates from last year are staying so the KRP rider line up will be really strong. Last year I surprised myself to be running right up the front and made far too many mistakes but I was still able to challenge for the championship title at the final round at Brands Indy.

For 2009 I want to win lots of races and break lap records! I have a great team and a great bike, anything else will be a dissapointment. I know it wont be easy because the quality of the rest of the guys is very good.

The first round is at the Indy circuit and I should have won there last year, I intend to put that right this April. I can't wait."
